Higher Education
The Joint MA/MBA Higher Education concentration prepares students to become educational managers in a variety of positions in colleges, universities and other higher education organizations. Students within this concentration can focus on a specific area of the higher education system, such as, college admissions, or they can take a broader approach and explore the higher education system more comprehensively. Not solely restricted to concentration courses, students may explore other courses and collaborate with their PreK-12 peers on shared issues such as college access and college admissions.
Joint MA/MBA Higher Education students take core course in higher education history, leadership in higher education, and a research seminar on core higher education topics. Higher education students are free to take elective courses within the School of Education and across Stanford. They also have access to the internship program where they can explore working within world-class departments and offices across Stanford. Internships can be found in residential life, admissions, administration, student affairs, and many others.

Students interested in the Higher Education Concentration would take at least one course from each area, EDUC 346 and the Proseminar.

Proseminar, required for all Joint Degree students is offered during their first year winter or spring quarter, for a letter grade.
EDUC 346, Research Seminar in Higher Education, is required and serves as a foundational course for the Higher Education Concentration.
