Higher Education
The POLS Higher Education concentration prepares students to become educational managers in a variety of positions in colleges, universities and other higher education organizations. Students within this concentration can focus on a specific area of the higher education system, such as, college admissions, or they can take a broader approach and explore the higher education system more comprehensively. Not solely restricted to concentration courses, students are free to branch out to other courses and collaborate with their PreK-12 and IDC peers on shared issues such as college access and college admissions.
POLS Higher Education students take core course in higher education history, leadership in higher education, and a research seminar on core higher education topics. Higher education students are free to take elective courses within the School of Education and across Stanford. They also have access to the internships program where they can explore working within world-class departments and offices across Stanford. Internships can be found in residential life, admissions, administration, student affairs, and many others.
In addition, Stanford’s School of Education offers a unique Higher Education Fellows Program designed for students interested in the Higher Education concentration.
